Kevin Melillo Drives In Three In River Cats Win

Just about everyone was a hitting star in the River Cats 10-3 win over Fresno but Kevin Melillo had an exceptionally good day at the plate.  He went two for four with a homerun and three RBIs.  Daric Barton also had a great game and he went two for three with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Dan Meyer improved to 5-1 with the win.  He gave up three runs on nine hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Inoel Deaza Is Shelled In Cougars Loss

Inoel Deaza was hit hard in the Cougars 9-3 loss and he fell to 0-6 on the season.  He gave up four runs on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings.

Haas Pratt was the hitting star in the loss.  He belted two solo homeruns.

Ports Pen Has Tough Game In Loss to Visalia

The Ports used three pitchers in their 7-3 loss to Visalia.  All three games up at least two runs and Eric Sheridan took the loss.  He gave up two runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Justin Sellers went two for four with a double, a walk and a run.  David Castillo hit a solo homerun.

Trent Peterson Is Hit Hard In Rockhounds Loss

Trent Peterson fell to 0-2 on the season in the Rockhounds 6-3 loss to Springfield.  He gave up four runs on seven hits and four walks in 6 1/3 innings.

Richie Robnett went two for four and he drove in two runs.  Cliff Pennington went one for four with two runs.

Jose Guzman Throws Seven No-Hit Innings In Vancouver Win

Vancouver topped Yakima and it was Jose Guzman who shut down the opposition.  He gave up four walks and he struck out four in seven innings of no-hit ball.

Dusty Napolean went two for three in the win.  Corey Brown drew a walk and he scored one of the two runs in the 2-1 win.

Cougars Held to Six Hits In Loss to Clinton

You know you’re usually going to lose when you have more errors (3) then you have runs (1) and that’s just what happened to Kane County in their 8-1 loss to Clinton.  While the pen gave up the bulk of the runs, it was starter Trevor Cahill who took the loss.  He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings and the loss drops him to 3-2 on the season.

Gustavo Rosendo was the only Cougar with two hits.  Christian Vitters drove in the only run in the ninth inning.

Michael Rogers Pitches Ports to Win Over Visalia

Michael Rogers improved to 1-2 on the season with a nice start in Stockton’s 5-2 win over Visalia.  He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.

David Castillo tripled and he drove in two runs in the Ports loss.  Raul Padron walked twice and he scored two runs.

Benjamin Fritz Throws Six Shutout Innings In Rockhounds Win

Benjamin Fritz improved to 8-3 on the season with a nice start in the Rockhounds 3-1 win over San Antonio.  He gave up four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in six shutout innings.

Richie Robnett went one for three with a solo homerun and two runs scored.  Myron Leslie went two for four with a triple and two RBIs.

Daric Barton Stays Hot With Four Hits In River Cats Win

The River Cats beat up on Salt Lake 8-6 and it was Daric Barton who got it done at the plate again.  He went four for five with a double, an RBI and two runs.  Dee Brown went two for five with a three run homer.

Brad Ziegler picked up the win with 1 2/3 innings of shutout relief.  He gave up one hit and he struck out one and the win pushes his record to 2-2 on the season.

Juan Nunez Drives In Three In AZL Athletics Win

Juan Nunez was one of the hitting stars in  the AZL Athletics 9-5 win over the AZL Royals.  He went one for four and he drove in three runs.  Carlos Morales went two for three with a homerun and two runs.

Despite getting shelled for five runs, Jonathan Joseph picked up the win because he initially gave up the lead in the sixth inning.  Jorge Arrioja threw five shutout innings in the win.

J.P. Pruitt Helps Power Vancouver to Win Over Tri-City

Vancouver won their first game of the season with a 7-3 beat down over Tri-City.  J.P. Pruitt led the way at the plate for the Canadians.  He went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Loenardo Martinez improved to 1-0 with a nice start in the win.  He gave up one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts in six solid innings.

Trent Petterson Is Hit Hard In Rockhounds Loss

Trent Petterson dropped to 0-1 on the season with a rough start in the Rockhounds 6-3 loss to Frisco.  He gave up six runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in six innings.

Mario Ramos Throws Five Shutout Innings In River Cats Win

Luis Ramirez Is Shelled in Rockhounds Loss

Luis Ramirez fell to 4-3 on the season with a tough start in the Rockhounds 9-4 loss to Frisco.  He gave up seven runs on eight hits and one walk with three strikeouts in seven innings.

Vasili Spanos went three for five with two doubles and a triple with two RBIs in the loss.  Landon Powell went two for five with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Rockhounds Split Doubleheader With Frisco

Frisco racked up four ninth inning runs but it wasn’t enough as the Rockhounds walked away with a 7-5 win in the first game of their doubleheader.  Danny Borrell picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief while Richie Robnett provided the offense with a grand slam homer.

The second game didn’t go as well as Midland lost 6-3.   Andy Shipman was roughed up and he fell to 4-3 on the season with a rough start.  He gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.  Gregorio Petit went three for five with a double and a run.

Alex Zumwait Is Hit Hard In River Cats Loss

Alex Zumwait gave up three late runs to the Suns and he took the loss in the River Cats 5-3 loss to Jacksonville.  A nice start by Dallas Braden went to waste and he gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in six innings.

Daric Barton was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a double and two RBIs.

Ports Held to Four Hits In Loss to Visalia

The Ports had a tough time at the plate in a 5-1 loss to Visalia.  Anthony Recker was the only guy who seemed to be able to put it together and he went two for three with a double, a walk and a run.

Vincent Mazzaro took the loss and he dropped to 6-7 on the season.  He gave up four runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.

Cougars Pitching Is Shelled in Loss to Burlington

Cougars’ pitching gave up 13 runs on 20 hits in a 13-6 loss to Burlington.  Four different pitchers gave up at least three runs and it was John Herrera who picked up the loss.  He gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings and the loss drops him to 2-7 on the season.

Jermaine Mitchell went two for five with two RBIs and a run.  Michael Massaro went three for five with a double, an RBI and two runs.

Trevor Cahill Throws Seven Shutout Innings In Cougars Win

Trevor Cahill improved to 3-1 on the season with a great start in the Cougars 3-0 win.  He gave up six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven shutout innings.

Jermaine Mitchell had a nice day at the plate in the win. He went one for four with a solo homerun and two runs.

Ports Are Doubled Up By Visalia

The Ports lost to Visalia 10-5 and Adam Thomas took the brunt of the damage.  He gave up eight runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts in just 2 2/3 innings.  The loss drops him to 2-1 on the season.

Raul Padron was the hitting star in the loss.  He went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.

Michael Madsen Pitches Rockhounds to Win Over San Antonio

Michael Madsen improved to 5-2 on the season with a nice start in the Rockhounds 4-2 win over San Antonio.  He gave up two runs on three hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings.

Vasili Spanos was the hitting star in the win.  He went two for three with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.

Dan Meyer Drops First Decision In Rough Start

Dan Meyer dropped to 3-1 on the season with his worst start of the season in the River Cats 8-3 loss to Las Vegas.  He gave up six runs on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Jason Perry went two for four with a two run homer.  It was his fifth long ball of the season.  Daric Barton also had a nice game and he went three for four.

Ports Blown Out By Visalia

Ryan Webb was crushed in the Ports 11-2 loss to Visalia.  He gave up seven runs on six hits and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.

Cliff Pennington was the hitting star in the loss.  He singled and drove in two runs.

Mario Ramos Is Hit Hard In Loss to San Antonio

Mario Ramos had a rough start in the Rockhounds 8-3 loss to San Antonio.  He gave up five runs on ten hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings.

Myron Leslie provided most of the offense in the loss.  His double in the eighth inning drove in two of the Rockhounds three runs.

River Cats Split Doubleheader With Las Vegas

The River Cats won one and lost one in their doubleheader against Las Vegas.  The first game went well enough and the River Cats won their third straight game.  Jorge Piedra hit a two run walk off homer in the bottom of the seventh and he finished the game with four of the River Cats five runs.  Jeffrey Gray picked up the win despite allowing the tying run to score in the top of the seventh inning.

Game two didn’t go nearly as well as Shawn Kohn was shelled.  He gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings.  J.D. Closser went three for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs in the 10-4 loss.

James Heuser Strikes Out Eleven In Kane County Win

James Heuser had a great start in the Cougars 8-1 win over Burlington.  He gave up a single run on six hits and two walks with eleven strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings.

Henry Alberto Rodriguez Pitches Cougars to Fourth Straight Win

Kane County beat Wisconsin 6-2 and Henry Alberto Rodriguez improved to 2-3 with a decent start.  He gave up two runs on two hits and two walks with six strikeouts in five innings.

Greg Dowling had a nice day at the plate.  He went two for four with a double, two RBIs and a run.

Steve Kleen Hits Ports to Win Over High Desert

Bobby Cramer improved to 2-0 on the season with a decent start.  He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings.

River Cats Held to Two Hits In Loss to Tucson

The River Cats had a tough time even getting a hit in a 9-2 loss to Tuscon. Daric Barton had two of the five River Cats hits. He doubled twice, drew a walk and scored a run.

Shane Komine dropped to 2-8 on the season. He gave up six runs on eleven hits and one walk with one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings.
