The Ports had a tough time at the plate in a 5-1 loss to Visalia. Anthony Recker was the only guy who seemed to be able to put it together and he went two for three with a double, a walk and a run.
Vincent Mazzaro took the loss and he dropped to 6-7 on the season. He gave up four runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
The poor pitching was a team effort as none of the four Ports’ pitchers used in this one could hold Bakersfield scoreless. Eric Sheridan took the loss but only because he gave up the final run.
Anthony Recker was the hitting star. He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Tommy Everidge had just one hit but it was a big three run homer.
The Ports beat San Jose 5-3 and it was Anthony Recker’s two run homer that broke up a 3-3 tie and that gave the Ports a win. Cliff Pennington also had a nice game and he went one for three with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run.
Adam Thomas picked up the win and he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up three hits and he struck out three with three shutout innings of relief.
Anthony Recker doubled and drove in the only run of the game for the Ports in their 2-1 loss to San Jose. Jose Pineda was the only Port to reach base twice and he singled and drew a walk.
A really good start by Bobby Cramer went to waste. He gave up one run on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in eight innings of work.
The Ports ran up the score with Tommy Everidge doing the most damage with a grand slam in the Ports 11 run third inning. Anthony Recker had a big day and he went three for five and he came a single short of hitting for the cycle. He drove in three and scored three in the blowout win.
Lost in all of the offense were six solid innings by Dustin Petersen. He gave up one run on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts and the win improved his record to 4-3 on the season. Justin Duchscherer threw a perfect inning as he gets set to return to the A’s bullpen.
The Ports got plenty of offense in their 12-2 win over Visalia but Chad Boyd was the biggest contributor. He went two for five with a double, a homerun and six RBIs. Anthony Recker picked up three hits and he drove in two.

Vince Mazzaro improved to 3-0 with another nice start in the Ports 4-2 win over Inland Empire. He gave up just two hits and three walks with six strikeouts in seven solid innings.
Anthony Recker had the big hit of the game. He hit a two run homer that ended up being the difference in the win. Raul Pedron doubled, drove in one and scored a run.
The Ports took a 7-2 lead in their game against Visalia, only to see it practically disappear with two runs in each of the eight and ninth innings. Fortunately, that’s as far as things got and the Ports won it 7-6. Vincent Mazzaro picked up the win and he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up two runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Anthony Recker had a big game with a homerun and three RBIs. Nicholas Blasi went two for three with an RBI and two runs.
