Mario Ramos improved to 1-0 on the season with a nice start in the River Cats 3-0 win. He gave up six hits and four walks with four strikeouts in five shutout innings.
Donnie Murphy went three for five in the win. Daric Barton went two for three with a double, two runs and a walk.
This was a crazy game. The River Cats scored a run in the seventh inning to give them a 14-6 lead before Tuscon rallied with six runs in the seventh and three in the eighth as the River Cats lost 15-14. The two teams combined for 34 hits in this one.
Just about everyone was a hitting star but Donnie Murphy probably had the most impressive game. He went four for five with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs.
Brad Ziegler took the loss although he just happened to give up the final four runs. He fell to 1-2 on the season.
The River Cats ran into Howie Kendrick in his rehab stint and he almost single handedly cost the River Cats the game. He hit a three run homer off of Jeffrey Grey that was the game winner and he also drove in the only run against starter Dan Meyer.
Donnie Murphy was the hitting star in the 4-3 loss. He went two for four with a double and a run.
Brad Halsey threw 6 1/3 quality innings today in the River Cats 4-3 win over Tacoma. He gave up three runs on five hits with four strikeouts.
Hiram Bocachica drove in two runs and he doubled in the win. Donnie Murphy went three for four with two doubles, an RBI and a run.
Jason Windsor took the loss as the River Cats lost 4-1 to Tacoma. He gave up four runs on ten hits and one walk with one strikeout in 6 2/3 innings.
The lone run came in the second inning. Donnie Murphy singled home Lou Merloni. Jeremy Brown had a good game and he went two for four with a double.
River Cats pitchers gave up eight runs on seventeen hits but fortunately, their hitters rang up nine runs on fifteen hits in the 9-8 win. J.J. Furmaniak went four for five with a homerun and two runs while Brian Stavisky and Donnie Murphy both went yard in the game.
David Shafer picked up the win in relief. He threw two shutout innings in the win.
One run on five hits won’t normally cut it and the River Cats dropped their series opener to Portland in a 5-1 loss. The lone run was an RBI double by Kevin Melilo that scored Donnie Murphy.
Kevin Olsen had a mediocre start and he took the loss. He gave up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts in seven innings.
