Frisco racked up four ninth inning runs but it wasn’t enough as the Rockhounds walked away with a 7-5 win in the first game of their doubleheader. Danny Borrell picked up the win with 2 2/3 innings of shutout relief while Richie Robnett provided the offense with a grand slam homer.
The second game didn’t go as well as Midland lost 6-3. Andy Shipman was roughed up and he fell to 4-3 on the season with a rough start. He gave up six runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts in seven innings. Gregorio Petit went three for five with a double and a run.
The Rockhounds lost 8-4 and Andy Shipman took the loss in a rough outing. He gave up five runs on seven hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. The loss was his first of the season.
Gregorio Petit was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for three with a homerun and two RBIs.
Michael Madsen was awesome on the mound in the Rockhounds 1-0 win over Frisco. He gave up just two hits and three walks and he struck out a season high ten batters in six shutout innings. The win pushes his record to 2-0 on the season.
The lone run was driven in by Richie Robnett on a sac. fly. Gregorio Petit went three for three and Brian Snyder went two for four and he scored the lone run of the game.
Midland effectively played a double header and lost it 7-6. The Rockhounds came from behind to score two in the ninth to take the lead but then they gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra frames. Each team scored two runs in the seventeenth and then Brian Snyder gave up the losing run in the bottom of th eighteenth.
The Rockhounds were held in check at the plate and they picked up just ten hits in the eighteen innings. Georgio Petit was the hitting star and he went two for seven with a walk and three RBIs.
