Benjamin Fritz was hit hard and he fell to 8-6 in the Rockhounds 14-3 loss to San Antonio. He gave up eight runs on ten hits and two walks with three strikeouts in just 3 2/3 innings.
Javier Herrera was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for five with a double and a run.
The Ports got just enough offense to make up for some poor pitching in an 8-7 win over Modesto. Javier Herrera was the hitting star in the win. He went three for five with an RBI and two runs. Herrera also had two stolen bases.
Adam Thomas picked up the win. He struck out three in 1 2/3 innings of shutout relief.
The Ports got plenty of their offense in a 9-6 win over San Jose. Javier Herrera led the way though and he went three for five with a double, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs. Luke Appert went three for three with a double, a run and an RBI.
Vincent Mazzaro didn’t have his best stuff but he improved to 5-4 with all of the offense. He gave up five runs on eight hits and five walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
The Ports lost in an ugly 12-1 loss to Visalia and Ben Jukick was particularly hit hard. He gave up eight runs on nine hits and he struck out two in four innings.
Javier Herrera drove in the only run of the game. Tommy Everidge doubled and he drew a walk in the loss.
Javier Herrera had a big day at the plate in the Ports 9-2 win over Visalia. He went two for five with a homerun and he scored four runs in the game. Raul Padron went two for four with a double, a homerun and two RBIs and in total, the Ports went yard four times in the game.
Bobby Cramer improved to 1-0 on the season with a nice start. He gave up two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks with a strikeout in six innings.
There were plenty of hitting stars in the Ports 11-1 over Inland Empire but Javier Herrera’s day at the plate stands out. He went three for five with a homerun and he drove in five runs. Jose Pineda went two for three with a walk, an RBI and three runs.
Ben Jukich threw six shutout innings to pick up the win. He gave up two hits and three walks with two strikeouts and the win pushes his record to 2-3 on the season.
The Ports won 3-2 and Ryan Webb picked up the win with 7 2/3 solid innings. He gave up just one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts and the win improves his record to 2-1.
Javier Herrera and Tommy Everidge each had nice days at the plate. They each went two for four with a run a piece.
