Scott Deal picked up the win in the Cougars 6-1 win over South Bend. He gave up a single run on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts in seven innings and the win improves Deal’s record to 1-1.
Alexander Valdez had a nice day at the plate. He doubled, tripled, drove in two and scored two more. Jermaine Mitchell was a perfect three for three with with a run.
Kane County was on the wrong side of a twelve inning pitchers duel. Joey Newby gave up the go ahead run in the 3-2 loss and he dropped to 0-1 on the season.
Alexander Valdez was the hitting star in the loss. He went three for five with a double and a run.
Kane County lost to South Bend 5-3 but it wasn’t because of a decent start by James Heuser. He gave up three of the runs on four hits and one walk with eleven strikeouts in six innings. Joe Piekarz took the loss and he gave up two runs in two innings.
All three runs for the Cougars came on solo homeruns. Jermaine Mitchell, Greg Dowling and Christian Vitters all went yard in the loss.
Larry Cobb led the way for the Cougars in their 6-4 win over the Chiefs. He went two for five with a double and three RBIs.
Jason Fernandez picked up the win with 4 1/3 innings of shutout relief. He gave up just one hit and three walks with three strikeouts.
The Cougars didn’t get much pitching in their 9-7 loss to Peoria. Four different pitchers gave up at least two runs in the twelve inning loss.
Alexander Valdez was the hitting star. He went three for five with a triple, three RBIs and two runs.
The Cougars got a ton of offense in their 14-3 blowout win over Peoria. Ironically, none of the runs came via the long ball but Larry Cobb and Toddric Johnson led the way at the plate. Cobb went four for five with a double, three RBIs and two runs. Johnson went four for four with two doubles, three runs and an RBI.
John Herrera picked up the win with a solid start. He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts in six innings of work.
The Cougars lost 4-3 to the Lugnuts today and while they scored three late runs, they fell a run short of extending the game. Larry Cobb hit a solo homerun and Greg Dowling continued to hit well and he went two for four with a triple and a run.
James Heuser took the loss and he dropped to 0-1. He gave up three runs on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Inoel Deaza was on the receiving end of some good hitting by the Lugnuts as he dropped to 0-3 on the season. He gave up five runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in five innings of work.
Greg Dowling was the only Cougar with two hits. He finished two for five with an RBI in the 8-3 loss.
Thomas Italiano was knocked around on the mound in the Cougars 6-3 loss. He gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts in just three innings.
Christian Vitters singled twice and drove in two runs. Greg Dowling singled twice and scored twice.
Scott Deal dropped his first game of the season in a tough outing against the Lugnuts. He gave up five runs on five hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
Isaac Omura drove in two runs in the 7-6 loss. Gustavo Rosendo had three hits and an RBI while Toddric Johnson had two hits and two runs.
The Cougars got little offense in their doubleheader with Burlington. In the first game, Kane County was shutout on just two hits and a fantastic start by James Heuser went to waste in the 1-0 loss. He threw four shutout innings and struck out six.
In the second game, the Cougars picked up just one run in a 5-1 loss. The lone run came on a solo homerun by Greg Dowling. Joe Piekarz took the loss and he gave up three runs in just three innings.
The Cougars couldn’t put together a winning streak as they lost another game. Inoel Deaza took the loss and he gave up three runs on six hits and one walk with one strikeout in 4 1/3 innings. He’s now 0-2 on the season.
Gustavo Rosendo went three for four with two doubles and two RBIs. Christian Vitters had two hits, two runs and two RBIs.
Matthew Sulentic had two hits and three RBIs in the Cougars 5-2 win over Quad Cities. Christian Vitters had two hits and two runs while Michael Affronti hit a two run homer.
T.J. Franco Jr. picked up the win in relief of starter Scott Deal. He threw two shutout innings and he gave up just one hit.
Kane County let this game slip between their fingers. John Herrera had a nice start and he pitched five shutout innings but the pen couldn’t hold the lead and the bats never really got going. On top of that, Beloit made four errors and the Cougars failed to capitalize on them.
Matthew Sulentic was the hitting star. He went two for three with a walk, a double and an RBI in the 4-2 loss.
The Cougars lost 5-4 to Beloit in a game where nine runs were scored on just nine hits. Michael Affronti was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
Scott Moore took the loss in a relief appearance. He was tagged for two runs in two innings.
The Cougars lost their second straight game and this time, they were held scoreless in a cold shortened seven inning game. The only hitter who seemed to be able to get anything going was shortstop Michael Affronti, who was a perfect three for three.

Kane County was a victim of the big inning as Burlington scored three in the first and then three more in the seventh for a 6-3 final. Scott Deal was roughed up for three of those runs in his start while reliever T.J. Franco, Jr. took the loss and he gave up three runs in just 2/3 of an inning.
At the plate, Greg Dowling doubled and drove in two runs while Jacob Smith doubled and scored a run.
