The Cougars got it all in an 11-1 blowout win over Beloit. Matthew Sulentic was one of the hitting stars in the game. He went two for four with a double, three RBIs and a run. Jermaine Mitchell also had a nice game and he went three for four with two triples, two RBIs and three runs.
Derrick Gordon picked up the win with 3 2/3 innings of solid relief. He gave up one unearned run and he struck out five.
Scott Deal had a nice start go to waste in the Cougars 5-3 loss to Beloit. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Isaac Omura was the hitting star in the win. He went two for four with an RBI.
The Cougars lost 10-6 and John Herrera took the loss a rough start. He gave up six runs on five hits and four walks with five strikeouts in three innings of work and the loss drops him to 2-5 on the season.
Jermine Mitchell singled and he drove in three runs. Michael Affronti went three for five with three runs scored.
There wasn’t much offense in either game, but the Cougars finished with a split in their doubleheader with Cedar Rapids. The first game was a 3-1 loss and Jermaine Mitchell drove in the lone run. Andrew Bailey took the loss despite striking out ten in 5 1/3 innings. He gave up three runs on six hits.
In the second game, James Heuser struck out nine in six shutout innings to pick up the win. Christian Vitters went two for three with a double and an RBI.
Scott Deal took a beating in the Cougars 7-3 loss to Cedar Rapids. He gave up all seven runs on thirteen hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
Greg Dowling went two for four with two RBIs. Larry Cobb hit a solo homerun in the loss.
The Cougars topped the Rattlers 8-4 and it was a nice team effort in the win. Four different hitters drove in two runs and three different players scored twice. Oddly, Jermaine Mitchell was the only player with three hits and he did neither of those two things.
Henry Alberto Rodriguez picked up the win with five shutout innings. He gave up two runs on four hits and he struck out six.
The Cougars had a tough game and not only was their offense held to five hits in their 4-2 loss, but the defense made three errors. Michael Affronti was the only Cougar with two hits. He went two for four with a double.
John Herrera was decent in his start but he took the loss without the run support. He gave up three runs on eight hits and one walk with five strikeouts in six innings of work.
The Cougars dug themselves into a 6-2 hole and while they made it a one run game, they fell just short of picking up the win. Greg Dowling was the hitting star. He went two for five and he both scored and drove in a run.
James Heuser was hit hard in the loss. He gave up six runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings.
Once again, the Cougars found a way to lose despite a great start by Andrew Bailey. He gave up one run on three hits and two walks with eleven strikeouts in six innings.
The offense was held to just three hits in the 1-0 shutout loss. Jermaine Mitchell doubled and he was the only Cougar with an extra base hit.
Scott Deal had a nice start and he improved to 2-3 on the season. He gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Larry Cobb had an odd game in the 6-3 win. He drove in a run and scored twice with getting either a hit or a walk. He reached on an error and scored in the fifth and then he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in a run and he later scored in the inning.
Kane County couldn’t get their hitters going in a shutout loss against one of the best left handers in the minors, Clayton Kershaw. All three hits were singled and they were all by different Cougars.
A pretty good sart by Trevor Cahill went to waste in the 4-0 loss. He threw six shutout innings and he gave up three hits. Henry Alberto Rodriguez took the loss and he gave up three runs in 3 2/3 innings.
John Herrera was hit hard and he took the loss in the Cougars 9-2 loss. He gave up four runs on seven hits and five walks with one strikeout. The loss dropped his record to 2-3 on the season.
Jermaine Mitchell had two hits and he drove in a run. Michael Massaro and Matthew Sulentic each had two hits and a run in the loss.
Michael Massaro was a perfect four for four with a run and an RBI in the Cougars 6-3 win over the the Loons. Michael Affronti doubled, drove in a run and scored in the win.
James Heuser picked up the win with a nice start. He gave up just two runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in seven innings. The win pushes his record to 2-1 on the season.
It was a team effort on the mound, but the end result was a 3-1 Cougars win. Andrew Bailey struck out six in 4 2/3 shutout innings in his start, but it was TJ Franco, Jr. who picked up the win with 3 1/3 innings of relief. He gave up one unearned run on three hits and he struck out three.
Hass Prat was the hitting star. He went two for four and he drove in two runs.
Jason Fernandez was one of four pitchers who combined to shut out Wisconsin in the Cougar’s 3-0 win. He gave up two hits and he struck out six in 3 1/3 innings and the win improved his record to 2-0 on the season.
Greg Dowling had a nice day at the plate. He went three for four and he hit a solo homerun.
It’s been a tough year for the Cougars and things didn’t improve today as they were swept by Beloit in their doubleheader. In the first game, the Cougars scored three late runs but their comeback fell short as they lost 4-3. Scott Deal was roughed up and he dropped to 1-3 on the season and Greg Dowling his a solo homerun.
The second game wasn’t as close and the final was 5-2. Trevor Cahill was shelled in the first and he got only two batters out while Christian Vitters went two for three with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI.
