The Ports used three pitchers in their 7-3 loss to Visalia. All three games up at least two runs and Eric Sheridan took the loss. He gave up two runs in 2 1/3 innings.
Justin Sellers went two for four with a double, a walk and a run. David Castillo hit a solo homerun.
Michael Rogers improved to 1-2 on the season with a nice start in Stockton’s 5-2 win over Visalia. He gave up two runs on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in five innings.
David Castillo tripled and he drove in two runs in the Ports loss. Raul Padron walked twice and he scored two runs.
The Ports had a tough time at the plate in a 5-1 loss to Visalia. Anthony Recker was the only guy who seemed to be able to put it together and he went two for three with a double, a walk and a run.
Vincent Mazzaro took the loss and he dropped to 6-7 on the season. He gave up four runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts in five innings.
The Ports lost to Visalia 10-5 and Adam Thomas took the brunt of the damage. He gave up eight runs (four earned) on eight hits and three walks with three strikeouts in just 2 2/3 innings. The loss drops him to 2-1 on the season.
Raul Padron was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
Ryan Webb was crushed in the Ports 11-2 loss to Visalia. He gave up seven runs on six hits and one walk in 3 2/3 innings.
Cliff Pennington was the hitting star in the loss. He singled and drove in two runs.
Steve Kleen led the way at the plate in the Ports 10-7 win over High Desert. He went four for five with a double, a triple, three RBIs and two runs. Jose Pineda went two for four with a double, a homerun and three RBIs.
Bobby Cramer improved to 2-0 on the season with a decent start. He gave up four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with six strikeouts in five innings.
Vincent Mazzaro had a great day on the mound and he improved to 6-5 on the season in the Ports 5-1 win. He gave up just one run on one hit and three walks with twelve strikeouts in seven innings of work.
Cliff Pennington was the hitting star in the win. He went two for two with two walks, a homerun, two RBIs and two runs.
The Ports were completely shut down in their 9-0 loss to Bakersfield. In fact, the Ports had just as many errors as they had hits with three a piece. The only extra base hit was a double by Justin Sellers.
Michael Rogers was shelled in a horrible start. He gave up seven runs on five hits and five walks with a strikeout in 2 2/3 innings.
The poor pitching was a team effort as none of the four Ports’ pitchers used in this one could hold Bakersfield scoreless. Eric Sheridan took the loss but only because he gave up the final run.
Anthony Recker was the hitting star. He went two for four with a homerun, three RBIs and two runs. Tommy Everidge had just one hit but it was a big three run homer.
The Ports beat San Jose 5-3 and it was Anthony Recker’s two run homer that broke up a 3-3 tie and that gave the Ports a win. Cliff Pennington also had a nice game and he went one for three with a double, a walk, two RBIs and a run.
Adam Thomas picked up the win and he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up three hits and he struck out three with three shutout innings of relief.
Vincent Mazzaro had a rough start in the Ports blowout loss to Modesto. He gave up four runs on six hits and five walks with five strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings and the loss drops him to 5-5 on the season
Jose Pineda was the hitting star in the loss. He went two for three with a homerun and three RBIs.
Talk about a crazy game. The Ports took a two run lead into the ninth only to see Modesto take the lead with three runs. Then the Ports answered with a single run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra frames before Cliff Pennington doubled home Frank Martinez to win it in the bottom of the eleventh.
Eric Sheridan picked up the win with some really nice relief pitching. He gave up a walk with five strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.
