You know you’re usually going to lose when you have more errors (3) then you have runs (1) and that’s just what happened to Kane County in their 8-1 loss to Clinton. While the pen gave up the bulk of the runs, it was starter Trevor Cahill who took the loss. He gave up three runs on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings and the loss drops him to 3-2 on the season.
Gustavo Rosendo was the only Cougar with two hits. Christian Vitters drove in the only run in the ninth inning.
Trevor Cahill improved to 3-1 on the season with a great start in the Cougars 3-0 win. He gave up six hits and a walk with four strikeouts in seven shutout innings.
Jermaine Mitchell had a nice day at the plate in the win. He went one for four with a solo homerun and two runs.
Kane County couldn’t get their hitters going in a shutout loss against one of the best left handers in the minors, Clayton Kershaw. All three hits were singled and they were all by different Cougars.
A pretty good sart by Trevor Cahill went to waste in the 4-0 loss. He threw six shutout innings and he gave up three hits. Henry Alberto Rodriguez took the loss and he gave up three runs in 3 2/3 innings.
It’s been a tough year for the Cougars and things didn’t improve today as they were swept by Beloit in their doubleheader. In the first game, the Cougars scored three late runs but their comeback fell short as they lost 4-3. Scott Deal was roughed up and he dropped to 1-3 on the season and Greg Dowling his a solo homerun.
The second game wasn’t as close and the final was 5-2. Trevor Cahill was shelled in the first and he got only two batters out while Christian Vitters went two for three with a double, a triple, a run and an RBI.
