The River Cats won one and lost one in their doubleheader against Las Vegas. The first game went well enough and the River Cats won their third straight game. Jorge Piedra hit a two run walk off homer in the bottom of the seventh and he finished the game with four of the River Cats five runs. Jeffrey Gray picked up the win despite allowing the tying run to score in the top of the seventh inning.
Game two didn’t go nearly as well as Shawn Kohn was shelled. He gave up four runs in 2 1/3 innings. J.D. Closser went three for four with a homerun, two RBIs and two runs in the 10-4 loss.

I’ve been going to a lot of River Cats games this season and one thing I can say for the relief pitchers is this…you don’t get saves and wins when your defense is giving up 3 errors a game and they all seem to occur after the 6th inning.
These relief pitchers are getting taking the brunt of the blame when plays like Murphy bobbles a ball and then gives up on it and no one is covering second and the runner advances to second or when Barton bobbles the ball at third, tries to make the throw instead of eating it and throws it away and guess what…..the runner advances. I went to 5 games in a row only to see 15 errors…thats ridiculous…you don’t win games making errors…its simple…
Oh…and would someone tell me why Lloyd Turner (hitting .140) is sitting in AAA??? Did I miss something? Why is he even still playing??? His average in Stockton was about the same???? I’m confused on that one!
