Rockhounds Edge Springfield in Second Straight Win

by @ 11:23 pm. Filed under Midland Rockhounds - April 2007, Vince Faison, Brian Snyder, Brad Knox, Vasili Spanos

Brad Knox threw six shutout innings to keep the Rockhounds undefeated.  He gave up just five hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

The big hit of the game was a three run homerun by Brian Snyder to tie the game up in the bottom of the ninth.  Then Vasili Spanos scored the game winner in the tenth on a Springfield error.  Vince Faison had three hits in the game.

Vasili Spanos is a huge talent. He should be in at least AAA. The fact that they started him back in AA again I think rreally has gotten to the guy and that’s why his numbers are down. I think he’s probably lost faith in the A’s organization giving him a real shot at making the bigs. They should trade him while his stocks still high, and mentally he’s still in the game. Too many prospects are ruined by not having a set criteria as to what will get you to the bigs. Trade him or move him up.
